A Book is More Than Just A Book

A Book is More Than Just A Book

Chapter 1

A Book is More Than Just a Book

_____

A good book does more for your wellbeing than almost anything else I’ve ever known.
It can solve the most complex of problems, provide the most cathartic of breaks from real life, or guide you on a path to enlightenment. It can transport you to a place only possible within your imagination. A world of fantasy, a version of each and every story interpreted uniquely by each individual reader.
It can provide humour when you need it the most, facts when you are most curious, and guidance when you seek clarity. A book can create a little bubble, separate from reality, in which only you and the story within its pages exist.
There are no ads in the pages of a book, just the creativity of its author and the inner workings of their mind selflessly exposed for others to admire, to criticise, to use or to learn from.
A book is more than just a folder for the pages within, and the written word is more than just ink on a piece of paper. A book is literally history. Carvings in stone, historical scriptures, words that have literally and figuratively guided every human in history. Books hold the most valuable sources of information and put them in our fingertips, connecting you to your past, the history of humanity, your present and even your future self.
Books often provide the guidance we live by. Words which, when printed on paper, become truth, become reality, become the very rules with which we sometimes follow.
A book can be just a book when sitting on a shelf, but in the hands of a reader it’s a powerful tool. The words we read can trigger the manifestation of ideas, of inspiration, of the solutions to a problem.
A good book is more than just a book, it’s a companion, when travelling alone or sitting in the coffee shop, or enjoying a moment at home with a glass of wine after the kids are in bed.
‘Our’ books are more than just books, they are stories of people, of life, of art, craft, culture and most importantly, of principles connecting us to a more natural, and responsible way of living. They are filled with Nordic principles, but influenced by simple values that transcend countries or cultures. Doing the right thing should be universal, and our books are chosen to reflect this.
‘Our’ books are more than just books, they have a feeling, a sense of life and purpose and home. They focus on families, on wellbeing, good food for the soul, and celebrate the creators.
‘Our’ books are pieces of art, unopened they are an extension of our personality, symbolic of our preferred design aesthetic. On the coffee table they are reminders to take a moment to ourselves and succumb to the moment.
‘Our’ books are not just books, they are symbols of the NIMA values and principles, they are a part of our history and our future. They are our gift to those seeking guidance for a simpler life, to understand there is more than the chaos which fills our everyday.
A book is more than just a book, for us, a book is one of the most powerful and influential tools of all.
